The City After Midnight

Create a cinematic documentary short following a late-night subway cleaner moving through empty underground platforms after the final train. Start with a low wide-angle shot of the silent station, then track beside the worker with a handheld camera and a thirty-five-millimeter lens. Capture reflective floors, worn gloves, discarded newspapers, distant tunnel lights, and the worker’s focused expression. Use cool fluorescent lighting mixed with warm maintenance lamps, natural train echoes, broom bristles, and ventilation hum. Keep the style intimate, observational, and realistic, with restrained color grading, subtle camera shake, and brief close-ups that reveal the quiet labor behind a city that never seems to stop.
