A Day on the Mississippi

Film a richly textured documentary following a towboat crew moving cargo along the Mississippi River. Begin with a sunrise telephoto shot compressing barges against misty water, then transition into the wheelhouse with a 35mm lens and slow gimbal movement. Capture hands on controls, river charts, engine vibrations, muddy wakes, dock workers, and quiet meals shared below deck. Use natural dawn light, hard midday reflections, and blue-hour practicals inside the vessel. Let the river’s sound lead the edit: diesel hum, radio chatter, gulls, and water against steel. Balance sweeping landscapes with intimate portraits of workers whose lives follow a constantly moving highway.
